The topic of O-CITY dissemination event in Slovenia was named With cultural and creative content to the innovative solutions. It was organized to present the main results of the project and to point out the importance of creativity not only in the education but also in the society and tourism.

BSC Kranj organized the event together with Upper Sava Valley Museum on 9 December 2021 in Jesenice. Besides O-city results, some good practices and products of cultural and creative topics were presented as the driving force behind innovation and the necessary transformation of the economy from traditional industry to digital and service society. At the Regional Development Agency Gorenjska – BSC Kranj we wanted to draw attention to the particular strategic challenge of developing this sector as our own industry and as an external partner for any kind of innovation.

Mateja Korošec highlighted the O-City project results, with the main focus on the O-city platform of world heritage and a practical experience of testing the educational courses created among the project partners. BSC Kranj collaborated with Layer’s house in the project, where five primary schools in Kranj and cultural public institutions (Gorenjska Museum, The Prešeren theatre of Kranj and the Kranj City Library) encouraged active learning about professions in culture and cultural heritage of Kranj. The students themselves created multimedia content (video and podcast) with which their classmates and lower-class pupils gained knowledge of culture in Kranj in a way that is closer to children and adolescents today.

Danaja Batinič, coordinator of the Layer House – House of artists and creative programme, presented the work and their involvement in the O-city. Art, music, creativity, education… Layer’s house is a vibrant and urban cultural arts centre, the intersection of cultural and social events in the Capital of Gorenjska. Founded in 2011 and named after baroque painter Leopold Layer, the house proudly continues its name and work.

Additionally, the project manager of national Centre for Creativity platform(https://czk.si/en), which acts as a development and entrepreneurial pacemaker for creative and cultural sector, briefed the participants on the national support environment for the cultural and creative sector and programmes that support creators in various fields such as calls, Creative Incubator, Pop-Upstart, Skill Transfer, Creative Accelerator, etc.

At the end, we opened the question about how to attract new visitors, according to the fact that visit of museums is declining. The answer lies in new technologies and raising awareness that virtual technology and others belong to museums, so that they will not become an amusement park. As an example, some good practices were pointed out, such as: Invisible Maribor digital natural, cultural and industrial heritage in a 3D immersive virtual experience and a virtual mining museum in Trbovlje (https://www.visittrbovlje.si/en/dozivetja/virtual-museum-of-mining-the-4th-dritl/) , which tells the story of the mine in Trbovlje and the lives of the people around it. The director of the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana proudly presented the project of Cukrarna (https://cukrarna.art/en), which is not only a new space of contemporary art, but also a new hub of cultural events in Slovenia.
