The first meeting of the project partners, coming from six countries, is being held at Gandia UPV Campus on February the 4th and the 5th

To discover and promote the cultural and natural heritage, turning it into a economical and educational motor. These are some of the “O-City” project goals, funded by the European Union programme Erasmus+. Is the first time the Polytechnic University of Valencia leads a project of this kind. «O-City is culture, innovation, communication and education. We aim to increase richness and knowledge using education and promoting the heritage, always with the knowledge economy as base», José Marín Roig says. Marín coordinates the international project and is member of the team that manage it from the UPV.

The aim is clear: to inject technical and professional knowledges in natural and cultural promotion of the cities involved, creating useful models for every city in the future. By now, the partners are universities, organisations and companies from six different countries: Spain, Slovenia, Serbia, Italy, Colombia and Greece.

“O-City” is a virtual world where cultural and natural heritage is represented by multimedia elements, using an online platform. Content goes in two directions, as creators are also users.

Kick off meeting has a practical purpose, promoting the conversation among the partners and focusing on the most important things to do in the first place. We will visit some of the most important places in Gandia, as the Palau Ducal (S. XIV), and locals will introduce us the classics of Valencian and Spanish cuisine. The project, starting now in Gandia (Spain), will continue for three years and the partners will visit each others city from now until 2021. Erasmus+ 2014-2020 programme aims to promote job prospects, personal development and improve educational system of the European countries.
