Juan José Jaramillo, Secretary of Culture of the District, received the statuette of O-City in the old Fluvial Intendance building. This event represents the official entrance of the city of Barranquilla to the orange world of this project, thus making it the first Latin America city included in the project.

The statuette was delivered by the project leaders in Colombia, Jorge Andrés Veléz Muñoz, Director of Internationalization of CEIPA Business School, and Alexandra Bolaños and Ivonne Molinares, research professors of the Universidad del Norte.

This project funded by the Erasmus Plus program seeks to unveil and promote the natural and cultural heritage of cities, stimulate the orange economy and modernize universities through the application of innovative learning methodologies.

For this, six cities were chosen that stand out for their tangible and intangible heritage: Gandia (Spain), Matera (Italy), Larissa (Greece), Kranj (Slovenia), Novi Sad (Serbia) and from our country, Barranquilla. Additionally, 13 strategic partners from all over the world were chosen, of which only two -CEIPA and Universidad del Norte- are from Latin America.

“The platform will allow the makers to connect, create networks and generate good practices that enhance the processes associated with a creative economy,” said Ivonne Molinares.

The participation of Barranquilla will allow the world to know its creativity and cultural diversity, and it is expected that the orange economy of this Caribbean region and our country will be revitalized, opening the door so that in the future more cities in Latin America will be part of the project and develop creative industries around the world.Jorge Vélez, said that “the project seeks that any person in the world can access the platform, training and developing skills of orange economy.” To achieve this, CEIPA will contribute all its experience in methodologies of education, innovation and development of digital educational resources.
