O-CITY participates in the Campus Praktikum of the Polytechnic University of Valencia Gandia

Campus Praktikum UPV-O-City

The Campus Praktikum 2024 took place at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) from 17 to 21 June. This activity is aimed at excellent students who are in their first year of Bachillerato or Higher Level Training Cycles.

The students had the opportunity to attend workshops and activities organised by UPV teachers and researchers, and to learn first-hand about the UPV campus and university life.

O-CITY held a workshop on the creation of audiovisual content with Artificial Intelligence applications. This technological innovation and linguistic promotion workshop was based on poems by renowned poets from the Valencian Community. The students, organised into four teams, worked on poems by Francisco Brines, María Ibars, María Beneyto and Josep Piera, to develop videos with images created with Artificial Intelligence.
The result is already published on the map of cultural and natural heritage in the cities linked to these poets and are already part of their intangible heritage:

Workshops PRAKTIKUM Campus de Gandia 2024:

1. SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENT
Campus Praktikum UPV-O-City
The Sustainability and Environment Praktikum is part of the Degree in Environmental Sciences at the Gandia Campus. Throughout the Praktikum, activities related to different aspects of this degree will be developed, such as the characterisation of water in the laboratory or the knowledge of the landscape or flora. Each day will be led by a lecturer from the degree course. Complementary activities will take place in the afternoon.

2. THE AUDIOVISUAL WORLD: TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATION
Campus Praktikum UPV-O-City
This Praktikum is part of the Degree in Audiovisual Communication and Double Degree in Audiovisual Communication + Telecommunications (Sound and Image) of the Gandía campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València. Each day will be led by lecturers from these degrees and will address different key aspects of the audiovisual sector, both from the technological point of view (equipment, audiovisual information transmission techniques and audiovisual facilities) and audiovisual communication (production and production of audiovisual products) using the audiovisual equipment and facilities available on campus.

3. INTERACTIVITY AND TELECOMMUNICATION
Campus Praktikum UPV-O-City
This Praktikum, part of the Degree in Telecommunication, Sound and Image Systems and the Degree in Interactive Technologies of the Gandía campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València, will deal with different key aspects in the information technology sector, such as data transmission systems, signal processing and interactive devices, among others.

4. NEW CHALLENGES FOR TOURISM
Campus Praktikum UPV-O-City
This Praktikum is part of the Degree in Tourism of the Universitat Politècnica de València, which is taught at the Gandía Campus. The tourism sector is one of the fundamental pillars of our economy. We are breaking records in the number of tourists who demand new tourist services. This, together with the development of information technologies, opens up a whole world of possibilities to complement the existing offer. Each day will be led by a professor who will address different key aspects of the current situation of the tourism sector.

For the director of the O-CITY Territori Valencià Chair, José Marín-Roig, the Campus Praktikum UPV 2024 has been an opportunity to prepare excellent students who are in their first year of Baccalaureate or Higher Level Training Cycles, through creative and original workshops and organised activities such as those proposed by O-CITY with its interactive digital atlas.

This participation is possible thanks to the O-CITY Territori Valencià Chair, funded by the Provincial Council of Valencia. Through this collaboration, the creation of audiovisuals on Valencian heritage is promoted in educational centres in the province.
